Vice-President Xi Jinping has
hailed Hong Kong rescuers and relief workers for their efforts in helping Sichuan earthquake
victims.
On the last day of his Hong Kong
visit today Mr Xi toured the Government Flying Service headquarters and met
Hong Kong's 120-strong Sichuan
aid team, comprising officers from the Fire Services, Health, Food &
Environmental Hygiene, Water Supplies and Information Services Departments,
plus the Government Flying Service and the Hospital Authority.
Mr Xi was introduced to the team
members and briefed on the facilities deployed. Secretary for Security Ambrose
Lee and Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow showed Mr Xi pictures of
the rescue efforts.
The Vice-President commended the team for their
bravery, risking their lives amid the threat of aftershocks, saying their
heroism, devotion and professionalism earned the respect of the Chinese people
