Seoul, Korea, May 30, 2009 -
A week after failing to place a team higher than ninth in a SWATCH FIVB World
Tour for the first-time in seven international Beach Volleyball events, four
women’s tandems from China posted improved results with one team advancing
unbeaten to the third-round of the US$190,000 Seoul Open winner’s bracket.
With the Seoul Open schedule
being altered with no matches being played Friday on the Han River Jamsil
Citizen Park Beach Volleyball courts due to the State Funeral of the former
Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, Thursday’s schedule featured an additional
elimination round to trim the field to 16 teams. Twenty matches will be
held Saturday, including evening semi-finals, to set the schedule for Sunday’s
medal matches where the final two teams compete for the $30,000 prize.
