為迎接今屆盛事，上水廣場籌備大半年，成功邀得中國奧運收藏第一人周儉雄先生，帶來跨越60年逾30枚歷屆奧運火炬，經典珍藏總值近千萬，並於今天舉行傳媒預覽會。周先生於席上，介紹每樣展品及其背景歷史，以及他近半世紀的收藏趣味軼事，當中歷史最悠久的1936年柏林奧運會聖火火炬及三枚不同年份的精選火炬。另外，上屆奧運火炬手、香港乒乓孖寶高禮澤及李靜，亦現身分享傳送奧運聖火的心情和經驗，並走進鬧市與市民見面，和香港市民進行火炬「傳」接觸，令他們有機會接觸火炬，一嘗成為奧運火炬手的滋味，近距離感受聖火傳送奧運的精神。讓港人於奧運前夕一睹典藏風采，率先感受奧運熾熱氣氛。

香港賽馬會與香港足球總會
(足總)
為了一個共同目標達成合作關係︰要讓成千上萬的本地青少年成就他們的足球之夢。因此，香港賽馬會與足總今天公佈一個跨年度的合作計劃︰「賽馬會青少年足球發展計劃」。
這計劃為不同技術水平的足球員而設，但焦點會投放在初學者和社區球員上，務求為這些球員提供踢足球和學習足球基礎知識的機會，從而發展和改進他們的球技，並在暑假期間踢正規足球。暑期訓練計劃特別強調對足球的參與、體育精神和個人成長，而非培訓精英足球員。
「賽馬會青少年足球發展計劃」於七月正式展開，為方便市民報名參與，計劃將首次採用網上登記。市民可於www.cityline.com登記參加計劃中「暑期足球計劃」的部份。
香港足球總會主席梁孔德先生對「賽馬會青少年足球發展計劃」的發展有下列看法︰「足總非常樂意透過『賽馬會青少年足球發展計劃』深化和香港賽馬會的伙伴關係。『賽馬會青少年足球發展計劃』的擴展對由社區層面到頂級職業足球中不同層面的足球發展均有極大幫助。讓本港踢足球的人數增加，最終便能讓香港的足球運動進步。」
