Organized by the Handball Association of Hong Kong, China and subvented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the annual Hong Kong International Handball Championship 2009 will be held from June 30 to July 5, This is the ninth year in which this tournament is being held and the tournament has growth both in prestige and in magnitude attracting teams not only from Asia but also from Europe and the Pacific region. 

Eight participating teams for this year’s event are China, Germany, Chinese Taipei, New Caledonia, Iran, Korea, Macau and Hong Kong. Among the participating teams, the national league champions from New Caledonia and Iran will be competing with a professional team from Germany.
