Two senior security and immigration officials left for Japan last night Feb 17, 2020 to prepare for Thursday's transfer of about 300 Hong Kong passengers aboard the virus-infected Diamond Princess cruise liner off Yokohama. Two Cathay Pacific chartered planes with 438 seats each will bring home the Hong Kong passengers. The ship, quarantined off Yokohama since February 3, has 454 confirmed Covid-19 cases. A 30-man force, headed by immigration director Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, will assist the Hongkongers, while Undersecretary for Security Sonny Au Chi-kwong will represent the government in dealing with Japanese counterparts.
