Health workers with radiation protective suit stand by at a pier as
evacuees arrive for radiation monitoring during a Codenamed
Checkerboard II, the Daya Bay Contingency Plan (DBCP) exercise in
Hong Kong on Dec 20 2017. The drill which tested the response
capabilities of the Government in dealing with serious nuclear
incidents continued this afternoon. The starting scenario of the
exercise this morning simulated fault events at the Guangdong Daya
Bay Nuclear Power Station (GNPS), which led to an off-site emergency
situation involving a release of radioactive materials. Relevant
government bureaux and departments co-ordinated various measures to
respond to the incident.
