The
Hong Kong Jockey Club kicks off its 2021-22 season Sept. 5, 2021 at
Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong as the Covid-19 pandemic is still in
place. Total turnover for the 88 racing days of the last season was
HK$136 billion (about US$17.5 billion), up 12.1%, with wagering on
local races up 11% to HK$129.3 billion (about US$16.6 billion).
Averaged across the 88 days, that means each racing program generated
some HK$1.47 billion (about US$200 million) in turnover.
